Colin Kaepernick pledges $1 million donation to charity for needy communities His gift is being directed to groups who address racial and social inequality. BTW, in case you are late to this story, Mr. Kaepernick is taking a serious amount of heat for refusing to stand during the national anthem at a 49ers games as a protest against racism and police brutality in America. Lexington couple makes $10 million donation to UK The University of Kentucky in Louisville has received a $10 million gift from the Don Jacobs Senior Charitable Foundation. Ocean Frontier Institute project gets $25M donation from seafood baron John Risley This institute, housed at Dalhousie, will focus on issues such as climate change, reversing fish species collapse and evaluating the sustainability of aquaculture. HEALTH BRIEFS: Lawrenceville foundation receives $3.5 million single gift donation, largest in its history The donor, Joseph Shafer, who died in June, was a Gwinnett Hospital Authority member for 12 years and longtime health system volunteer.
