Studies and stats

  • Cash Giving From Businesses Edges Up, Chronicle Survey Shows This Chronicle of Philanthropy survey indicates that $4.8 billion in cash donations were received by U.S. charities from 68 corporations in 2015. This is an increase of 2% over the previous year. Dealing with a significant image problem on the heels of the banking crisis and subsequent bailout, banks are playing a much more significant role in this giving than previously. (6/1/16)
  • Individual donations fall to lowest level for seven years Interesting report from the U.K. Particularly interesting to see that giving by men in the U.K. is dropping. Am curious if this is case elsewhere and, if it is, is it related to the pendulum swinging too far towards a focus on women's philanthropy? Thanks to AFP for sharing this link. (5/24/16)
