Melody Song is a fund development professional with 15 years of experience. Certified with CFRE designation, Melody is specialized in Major Gift fundraising, Prospect Management, Prospect Research, Corporate Sponsorship, and International Fundraising.
Coming from a diverse background in cultures and communications in both non-profit and for-profit sectors, Melody has an exceptional insight on growing global success and promoting diversity. Her recent projects include the Calgary Zoo Giant Panda capital and conservation campaign for which she raised $2 million from corporations and individuals from a growing Asian community. Her work in the development of a wholistic organizational approach to prospect research and pipeline management using leading edge methodologies contributed to the success of SAIT Promising Futures Campaign. As the Director of Development for Alberta Ballet, Melody expanded the team’s capacity by introducing prospect management process and growing major giving and corporate sponsorship.
Before focusing on fund development, Melody has 10 years of experience as a marketing and communication professional for local and international organizations including RedPoint Media, Edelman PR Worldwide Beijing, and Schlumberger China S.A.
Melody is the AFP Calgary Chair for IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access) Initiative, a member of the International Committee for Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and an advisor for the Chinese Association for Fundraising Professionals (CAFP). She is a former board member of Association for Professional Researchers in Advancement (APRA) Canada. She is an active speaker and educator with APRA Canada, APRA International, CAFP, and AFP Calgary Chapter.
Melody can is fluent in three languages: English, Chinese and French.
