Marie-France Varin, MA
Manager of Corporate Development and Operations
Marie-France has worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors where she has led or collaborated on a number of high-profile programs and initiatives.
Marie-France established a mentorship program for internationally-trained professionals in Calgary that is now run out of Bow Valley College. She managed the Haskayne School of Business Career Centre at the University of Calgary, and worked with one of Calgary’s largest engineering firms, WorleyParsons, where she was responsible for performance management and professional development programs.
Most recently, Marie-France worked with the United Way of Calgary on the All in for Youth initiative to improve high school completion rates, and with the GAIN Team (a group of 40+ professionals who share their talents and experience in the areas of board governance, strategic business and financial planning, and leadership) helping to establish work processes, recruit executives, and expand the program to meet the growing needs of the nonprofit sector.
Marie-France has a strong track record in project management and is known for her public relations work and for establishing lasting, professional relationships with corporate Calgary and the nonprofit sector.
Marie-France serves on the Board of the Adiuvo Foundation, a group that works with community organizations and empowers new Canadians and professionals to be successful. She also sits on the Advisory Committee of the Bow Valley College Corporate Readiness Training Program, which helps foreign-trained professionals develop practical Canadian business skills and gain relevant work experience in Canada.
Marie-France holds degrees from Université de Montréal (Economics), Western University (Journalism) and McGill University (Education).
In her spare time, Marie-France enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going for long walks and gardening.
